about our bowls

a bowl in your future.

açaí, say what?

We proudly offer superfruit smoothie bowls that start off with one of three bases: açaí, pitaya, or green (spinach and fruit). The primary ingredient for each base is then blended with an assortment of fruit, depending on the bowl recipe.

Açaí berries come from a species of palm tree that’s native to Central and South American tropical regions. While the fruit is relatively new to North America, it became popular as early as the 80s in areas like Rio de Janeiro, thanks to legendary Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu founder, Carlos Gracie. Gracie had created a strict nutritional regimen for his athletes, with a blend of açaí berry and banana as a staple food in his nutrition plan. Gracie chose the açaí berry because of its low sugar content and high vitamin and antioxidant content.

Açaí made its way north in the late 90s and early 00s, thanks to the surfing culture of the West Coast. And, eventually, it made its way to Birmingham, AL. The rest is, well, history.

it’s more than your favorite treat. it’s a bowl of mouth-watering flavor that’s jam-packed with hearty nutrition.

Pitaya

Like açaí, pitaya is native to Central and South American tropical regions. Considered a superfruit, pitaya is also loaded with vitamins and antioxidants, making it a perfect option for our smoothie bowls. Pitaya varies from açaí in that it’s a tad sweeter and is a brighter pink color.
